Saturday, Sat tur day, Saturday, Saturday

I woke up this morning with six thousand things in my head and was so excited to start the day and I have gotten fuck all done. Well, that’s not true – I did figure out the setting I had wrong for cork, and made some coasters….

I will be making those for HaldeCraft in another couple of weeks. Probably on my 02/02 shop update…? Along with charcuterie boards. They are a little darker than I intended, but the first two times I made them they came out so light you could hardly read them, so I guess I’ll take it…? Somewhere there’s a middle ground.

So I have gotten some stuff done, but mostly what I’ve done is reassure Honey Butter that the world is not ending, that those two guys are not dismantling our entire house, they are doing work and will put stuff back, and also that very very chonky good boi dog they brought with them who is hanging out in the back yard will not live here forever, I promise.

Peppa Potato could care less, but Honey Butter has been flipping out since about 9 AM. Thunderchews have not helped. Closing all the doors has not helped. I’m about ready to leave her here in the studio and ME go back over to the house, lol!

But at least the guy is here putting the skirting on my house, after talking about it to him for like a year.

Why are houses never ending pits that you throw money and repair time into, and yet it’s never full and finished?!

OK; I think they’ve gone around to the far side of the house, so I can let Honey Butter out into her little fenced in area in front of the studio. Hopefully that will make her stop whining at me with every exhale.

It’s been a busy couple of days. Wednesday I had errands in town all day; Thursdays Jeff and I have been grabbing lunch and taking it to go eat with Aunt Gay and Uncle Joe at their house; Friday I spent all day in the studio glazing, glazing, glazing. Today I’m finishing up some glazing so that I can fire the kiln tomorrow – stuff that I won’t actually list in the shop for a couple of weeks. But because of all the traveling I plan to do this year, I’m trying to get ahead while it’s slow. That way I won’t go away for three weeks and then come back and start making stuff that won’t be ready for six weeks. If I can make a little more every week (or keep a little back, and not list it) then I will have stuff to list steadily all year. I’ve seen shop owners that only have new inventory drops like, once a quarter, but I get too excited about the things I make and I don’t want to wait that long to show everything off!

OK, that’s enough random blogging for the day. Time to get back to trying to distract Honey Butter from whining steadily, and trying to remember what I was thinking this morning when I woke up, about things I have to do. Handbuilding. Accounting work. Vacation planning. A list of things that would be awesome if I made once a month, to have ten to twelve of them ready for the holidays, rather than getting to right before the holidays and thinking “shit, if only I’d had time to make X.”

Good lord. Troublesome, the dog-aggressive cat, just ran into the studio while Jeff had the door open for like a nanosecond. He attacked both dogs, causing yelps and jumps, and then ran back out. WHAT AN ASSHOLE.

How early is too early to start drinking on a Saturday?

  1. The one of the houses/shops in the archway with reflections in the water reminds me of the Fells Point postcard…
