Almost time to get back to work

Almost time to get back to work

I planned on getting back to work on the 7th… how is it already the 5th? It’s a little unfair that I lost almost four weeks to bronchitis. I am feeling a lot better now – I’m definitely on the mend. But it seems a little unfair that I had actual real scheduled time off and then felt like crap for most of it. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I still did shit when I had the energy – did a little handbuilding and played around with my new laser engraver/cutter. But I had a lot of plans that included cleaning the shit out of both my house and my studio… and they are both still disaster areas. Sigh. But! I am in the studio today, with a goal of (a) winding some yarn that I dyed almost a year ago and haven’t gotten around to winding yet (don’t judge me) and (b) glazing some bisque for some restocks. I’m really trying to make a cohesive, followable plan for restocks and new things coming in next year. Especially since I’m going to be travelling so much. Eeep! Travelling! I have my place to stay in Dublin and in Wexford, but need to make reservations in Galway and Belfast. And then one night more in Dublin, the night before I fly out.

Being back in the studio means I’m not going to get much Dollhouse stuff done today… but I did move The Bayport House back onto the dining room table last night as I’m pretty much done with Sam’s Study until I get the little miniature books I ordered rather than continue to make the frustrating (and crappy) books that came with the set.

I’ve actually made a lot of little changes to Sam’s Study. Should I make a whole post about that when I’m completely done with it? I used different fabric for the tablecloth and chair. I painted most of the furniture. I didn’t use the lighting kit that came with it. I put in a different floor than the checkerboard tile they gave with it. I had to do some things differently because one of my cats threw up on some of the things that were designed to be cut out and used, and some things I did differently because apparently I just can NOT follow instructions. I’m such a rule breaker!

OK; quick post today. I have bisque to glaze and yarn to wind and later today an online hangout for my Patrons over on Patreon.

Happy Friday, y’all!

  1. So basically ; you took Sam’s study and made it Lorena’s . Better ! I had Lizzy cull her toys yesterday. Kid quote ” I’ve never played with these, didn’t even know we had them . ” in reference to two sets of blocks that she used to build with nearly every day . Bonus she picked out the duplo parts that are compatible with lego still. extra bonus ; i’ve moved those books off the blue and white living room dresser over to the bookshelf that she cleared. In the process i dropped my Lego Hulk in his mecha behind the dresser so i cleaned there too. I meant bygah!! to go sit on the porch at Loosey’s and have lunch today. The best laid plains of men i suppose ; lead us to chasing mice down a rabbit hole. The chevron plank boards is better than checkerboard .

  2. When you get to Belfast, think of the old Busch Gardens regular, Malcolm Curfey. He was from Belfast and always laughed when he said “I’m from Belfast where you go to hell fast.”

  1. The one of the houses/shops in the archway with reflections in the water reminds me of the Fells Point postcard…
