Now; there are a couple of changes. (1) the price has gone down on these smaller bars. (2) because of the price change, the Ten-for-$56 listing has temporarily been taken offline until all the soaps are represented in the new size and price - when that listing returns, it will be at a new price that represents the new bars. Tell me what you want, what you really really want

Lorena September 28, 2014 Home and Garden8 Comments

In case you haven’t picked up on this, Tim and I have been talking about moving the HaldeCon Household. We started earlier this year with an unexpected turn; we decided to start verbalizing what we wanted, and within a month or two of that, some friends whom we love dearly …

The 2014 Florida Fiber-In

Lorena September 25, 2014 EventsLeave a comment

I was so busy the whole weekend I didn’t have a lot of time to whip out my camera; I think this is the least number of photos I’ve ever taken at Fiber-In. Thursday night my living room looked like this: And when I went to pick up Rhea, after …

OK; ya’ll get the unedited version; I’m going to post a slightly cleaner (no f-bomb) version on my work blog tomorrow. — I was so busy the whole weekend I didn’t have a lot of time to whip out my camera; I think this is the least number of photos …

Lorena September 24, 2014 This Week in HaldeCraftLeave a comment

What are you working on this week? I’ve got so much on my list that I’m hoping writing this blog post will help me focus! In ceramics, I have some green mugs I took out of the kiln last week that need to be photographed and listed. I’m hoping these …

The last week has looked like this….

Lorena September 18, 2014 Craft ShowsLeave a comment

And you know what that means… tomorrow morning I leave for the Florida Fiber-In! Fiber… Oh! Shit! I never did post about that over here; I did on my work blog, though, and you can read about the 11th Florida Fiber-In here. Oops. Sorry about that, I could have sworn …

Color Choices: Envision

Lorena September 16, 2014 CeramicsLeave a comment

Duncan Envision glazes are my current go-to glaze of choice. And look at these rich colors – you can see why I like them so much! Envision glazes are non-toxic and food-safe, and are great for items that will come into contact with food or drink. They also come in …

My favorite free apps

Lorena September 15, 2014 RamblingsLeave a comment

Like, well, pretty much everyone else, I am app crazy. I just got a new phone about a month ago (a Samsung Note 3, hello, stylus, I love you!) and of course I wanted to sort through all the apps I’ve previously loaded on other phones and decide which ones I …

I’ve been busy over the last month, and if you’ve been half as busy as I’ve been you may have missed some things. So to recap… New ceramics include the plant markers, an owl tumbler and toothbrush holder (set), jumbo yarn bowls, Irish Coffee mugs, and a set of nesting/mixing …

Fear of Commitment

Lorena September 13, 2014 HaldeCraft / Navel Gazing4 Comments

This year was going to be amazing. Back in January, in spite of being worried about Lenny the Boob Pea, I had such plans for HaldeCraft this year. Part of those plans included expansion, and by that I mean actual physical space expansion (not necessarily product expansion, although that would …

Lorena September 10, 2014 This Week in HaldeCraftLeave a comment

What are you working on this week? This week in ceramics I’m afraid I’m not doing much — I listed a few things (expect to see pictures scattered throughout the rest of the week) and that’s about all I’ve had time for (of course that didn’t stop me from watching …

Head over heels; or, bowled over by bowls

sittidae September 5, 2014 CeramicsLeave a comment

Do you labor over finding just the right gift for certain people? Something that is functional, yet beautiful, something they will love and actually use? My mom is one of the people who is hard to shop for, because I want to get her something amazing, but also something useful …

If I knew I could not fail, I would…

Lorena September 4, 2014 RamblingsLeave a comment

We never really know if something is going to work (or not) until we try it. I know I’ve had my fair share of “this would be AWESOME” followed months (or weeks) later by “this was the WORST IDEA EVER.” But if I were to somehow get a peek into …

What are you working on this week? I’m dyeing club yarn like a fiend, and lining up fiber to dye after that… I have put a couple of spoiler pictures up in black-and-white, but when I get to the fiber, since that’s not a surprise, I’ll show those off in …

Imma take a day off. Ooo, maybe I’ll redo my entire website!

Lorena September 3, 2014 HaldeCraft7 Comments

Because why else would you take a day off? This morning, Tim was like (when I said I was contemplating not dyeing yarn today, but instead, running errands, doing laundry, and getting some things done I haven’t been able to do), “Don’t dye yarn today. Sure, it’s not a day …

Color Choices: Low Stone

Lorena September 2, 2014 CeramicsLeave a comment

Next up in my series of color chart posts are the Spectrum “Low Stone” glazes. They’re called “Low Stone” because they are low fire, Cone 06, but they give the same results as a high-fire stoneware glaze. I’m relatively new to this line but have loved almost every single one …
