Do you ever want to take a vacation so you can get some work done?
Here are some things that are floating around in my overflowing brain….
- I need to retake a lot of pictures for HaldeCraft
- I need to finish adding alt-text to the current pictures on HaldeCraft
- I need to clean up the categories and menus on HaldeCraft
- I need to figure out why the fuck there are pale yellow lines and/or the old pale yellow background on some of my HaldeCraft pages when I have changed all of the settings to green
- OK so like ten years ago, I was using a Theme for HaldeCraft wherein all of the photos had to be square. At the same time I was really only using Insta for work, and they only had square photos. Is perhaps rethinking my approach and moving to portrait photos instead of square something I should think about? That seems… overwhelming. But maybe something I should do? But I’d have to redo everything; if I just did new photos going forward, it would break the visuals of HaldeCraft as it is right now (by making things no longer uniform).
- I need to make some new categories on Patreon, splitting out the HaldeCraft videos from the video category and making it it’s own category
- I need to clean up and organize the categories here on Snarkland; some got deleted when I was thinking of deleting my blog, so there are some uncategorized posts but also some that should be in a different section and a couple of categories that are basically the same thing so should be combined
- It breaks my heart but I’ve ordered two rat electrocution death traps because this is getting out of hand
- I need to get this fucking rat infestation under control; I’m going to give the electrocution traps a week and after that I’m calling an exterminator if I can find one that doesn’t use poison. I can live with killing the rats more than I can live with leaving poisoned carcasses where I can’t find them but wildlife can
- I keep cutting the tip of my index finger on things and it’s making it hard to type what with having to tape a bandaid so that it’ll stay on
- Seriously I’ve cut it twice in the last… three weeks? Four?
- I have got to get my electronic storage on equal footing. Computer in the office. Computer in the house. Dying laptop for travel. I’ve got to get all three syncing to the same cloud folder so I can easily transfer work from one place to the other. I’ve also got to make sure they all can access cloud storage for automatic upload from both phones (the phone I use as a phone and the phone I use just for taking video now). Portable hard drive for backup storage like photos and videos, for safekeeping, needs to be cross-checked to make sure it’s up to date. I deleted a bunch of videos on the one phone to make room, and I probably should have checked first to make sure everything was saved first. Whoops.
- For someone who, if you’d asked me ten years ago, I would have been like “fuck cloud storage, I don’t trust that shit”… I sure do use cloud storage a lot. Sure, more for keeping things transferred and up to date than actual “storage,” but still. How times change.
- I need to get on those 2025 taxes
- Now that Jeff is done painting my guest room and my cat room, I can start with The Great Reorganizing. Some of it I’ve already done, but…
- I’ve moved the bed and two dressers into the guest room; I still need to move a bookcase from my room to that room
- This is a long term goal but I need to learn how to refinish furniture, buy a sander, and repair/refinish the dresser and armoire in the guest room
- I’ve moved three bookcases into the cat room, and a settee, and a dresser. The dresser is for the cat food to go on top of, since the cat wall unit Tim had built got … taken apart and … left outside … in the rain … so the wood was unable to be reused to make a new one. I don’t really want to talk about it. Anyone with both cats and dogs knows that the cats need to be fed higher than the dogs can reach, which was one of the important features of the cat wall. I’m considering moving Tim’s green recliner into that room, too.
- Then all the space that’s been freed up in my room from moving all of that needs to be painted
- After it’s painted I get to put together the stuff I got to make a headboard/footboard/taller nightstands, and move the bed
- The little corner in my room that is where the bed is now, is where all of my workout equipment will go (except for the stationary bike which will stay in the studio)
- I’ve also finally made a unit for … stuff. I don’t know how to describe this and it would be easier to just take a picture but I’m too lazy. Trust me that it’s a thing I’ve wanted to make for a while; it’s to empty out all of my Doom Boxes. It has twelve containers, and so twelve things that I never know what to do with will go into the containers. Like, one container for tools that I use in the house and then misplace because I have to clean off some surface and the best way to clean off a surface is to put all that shit in a box and “deal with it later.” One container for knitting supplies. One container for masks. One container for random bits of paper that need to be sorted through at some point but not right now. And so on.
- Which means I need to round up all the Doom Boxes in the house and take them to the cat room for sorting… which will free up a lot of space in the house!
Basically I need to become a fully functioning adult HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH sigh
I’m going away for a few days with Aunt Gay and Uncle Joe for ICFA, and I have my own room (I am a spoiled princess) so I’m going to bring my laptop and see if I can’t, at some point from Wed-Sat, get some of the computer work on this list accomplished. Kind of like that apocryphal Douglas Adams story, sometimes I think I need to be locked in a hotel room with nothing but room service and a computer so I can actually get some work done. But it’s also a fun conference and I really like hanging out with the people there, so…. we’ll see.
So. Now that I’ve cleared all of these things out of my head and put them on virtual paper… what will happen? Will I get them done or will my brain just fill with a hundred NEW things?
I leave you this picture of my G-ma, Lorena, in the green housedress. I believe that is one of her sisters-in-law, but I couldn’t tell you which one (if I remember correctly, G-ma was one of ten and Papa was one of … twelve? Or visa-versa? Anyway. Big family). In this picture, G-ma is about as old as I am now, if not even a year or two younger. Why is this not my life? I mean, I know why (business owner, widow, only child). But still. Why?! Why is my head full of things that need to be done, and not a one of them is “getting drunk in the middle of the day in a housedress”?!

Merciful Mothers my sweet friend ! All i had to deal with was buying six pair of socks; now i won’t have to buy socks again ; maybe ever. Enjoy that little vacation ; it will help i’m certain.
From Aunt Gay: That’s Aunt Gertie Spivey in the photo.
That is quite a list!
Have you tried finger cots to help keep your finger tip covered? Less bulky than taping a band-aid. Any drugstore has packages of basic ones.
