Does anyone even read travel blogs?

I was looking at my unpublished drafts, and I have five or six started-but-never-finished unpublished blog posts about my trip to Ireland in April. And I only barely blogged about Scotland – just enough to say how sick I was. I did post most of the Scotland photos on Facebook… I posted some of the Ireland photos on Facebook but not all of them. I had originally not wanted to spam Facebook with my Ireland pictures, but found that only about four people were reading the blog posts I was writing here… and then it wound up that the pictures I posted about Scotland got a lot of interest, but I didn’t have energy/time to really write anything (here, or on Facebook). And I still have England in November! And I totally want to go back to Ireland. Probably not next year (I have some domestic travel I want to do first), but in 2026.

So… I’m curious.

You see… everyone, even some folks that I didn’t know well, have been so supportive since Tim died. People I didn’t even know were reading my Caring Bridge posts, asked Sharon to let me open up the site for donations, which gave me at least a year of breathing room so I didn’t have to decide right away if I had to or wanted to move. Out of the love you showed me, I want to share my life with you. I want you to see when I’m struggling, when I’m making strides, when I’m troubled, and when I’m enjoying life. Letting you in, sharing things… that’s the best way I know to say “thank you.” This year, like that year, has had a lot of really great highs and really horrible lows. I thought this year would be work and travel, but it’s turned into travel and being unreasonably sick. So I’d like to share the travel, please! The sick is a downer!

xoxo y’all

My life is an open book; but somebody has torn out a few of the pages.

  1. I read your travel blog. I personally find trip reports easier to read as an integral part of a FaceBook page, which is why I put mine there.

    1. For real i can relate to the sickness parts though. Yesterday , the one year anniversary of my having rotten teeth and an infection in my jaw bone which could have killed me ; i got a notice from that nursing agency warning me of an oncoming storm. Not the good Doctor Who kind of oncoming storm. It gave me a bit of frisson also not in a good way. Share everything that will make you feel better for getting it off your chest. Your photography is a treat always.
