That Christmas movie, with that guy who’s the vampire

Dear Tim;

I was catching up on The Rookie while painting ceramics the other day, and guess who the guest star was? Molly Quinn! The girl who played his daughter on Castle! It was so cute to see them interacting. She was bitching about what a loser her deadbeat, in-prison father was, and it was just adorable. Nathan Fillion could genuinely not hide the affection he has for her, and it was cute. I love how he brings his former co-stars into the show. That’s, what… five? Six, now? Between Castle and Firefly?

Anyway. I just wanted to share that with you. The same way I wanted to call my dad after the first time we ate at the Sci-Fi Dine-in Theatre at Disney that time. But I couldn’t call my dad and tell him that, any more than I can call you now to tell you this.

This is what I think of when I hear “a part of me died with him.” Me, what makes me me, didn’t die. I didn’t die. I’m still here. But the part of me that could instantly talk to someone who’d seen Firefly AND Castle AND The Rookie… that part is… well, it doesn’t have anyone to talk to, now.

Plus, you loved/hated those “who’s that guy” conversations. Case in point – the kid that is on the Doctor Who episode looks familiar. What have we seen him in?

Tim: Oh, you know. He was in that Christmas movie you like. With that guy who’s the vampire.

Me: …… ?

Tim: You know!

Me: ……….? I don’t? But a Christmas movie with a vampire would be RIGHT up my alley.

Tim: No, no, the guy was a vampire in another movie. But he was in that Christmas movie you liked. With that kid. I don’t think they had any scenes together, though.

Me: Well, I can count my favorite Christmas movies on one hand. Original Miracle on 34th Street. It’s a Wonderful Life. Die Hard. Love, Actuall—oh! Oh! Bill Nighy! He was in Love, Actually! And he was in Underworld as the vampire! Oh! That kid in Doctor Who is from the Liam Neeson storyline in Love, Actually!

Tim: That’s what I SAID.
