The August 2011 Monthly Craft Market

The August 2011 Monthly Craft Market

Once again, I had a great time at the Monthly Craft Market. Big thanks to Laura for helping me out, and both LaLa and Lesley for coming by and hanging out and helping too!

This month saw a change in that we moved from The Tabernacle to what I hope will be the location forever-and-ever, The Doris Bardon Community Cultural Center. A town like Gainesville needs a space like this, and even though they’re not 100% officially open yet, the place already has a great vibe and I really hope that they take off. If I didn’t already have a studio at home, I would definitely be thinking of applying for their artist-in-residence program.

There were a few new vendors (The Illegal Jam Company for one, and another great food vendor who had THE most delicious lemon/lime/ginger drink — I wish I’d caught their name, and The Two Thieves) and some, like me, who had been there before (Spellbound Dance Arts, the accordion player whose name I don’t know, and I don’t think he was there last month but the Kombucha seller has been there before). I wish I was better at finding websites of the vendors!

Indie Gainesville wrote up a great little article on both the previous night’s Art Walk, and our Monthly Craft Market.

Overall it was a lot of fun — very busy, a lot of foot traffic, and sales were great. Sadly, depending on the date for the September one, I might have to miss it (I hear my husband’s sister is getting married the last weekend of September!) and that breaks my heart because I really think that with this space in The Doris that it’s going to completely take off. I guess I’ll just have to look forward to October!

  1. Sounds like the market could use a Program listing all the vendors and their contact information, to be taken home afterward. Maybe you could offer to do that…for a small fee.
