LITERALLY WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE, Y'ALL. When thinking of sweet fruit like pineapple, banana, and apple, sharp paprika is not the go-to, to sprinkle on top of that. But have you ever had a fruity drink, with the rim of the glass done up in spicy salt? This smells like that tastes! It's insane, but it works. Trust me.

Champagne Sugar is an enigmatic soap; a little light, a little fruity, a little bit of citrus, a little sweet. Hints of jasmine, rose, and plum mix with lemon, orange, apple, and banana, and together they all smell amazing and lightly fresh. This is not an overpowering fragrance; you can definitely tell that it's scented before you even unwrap it, but the fragrance makes me think of a booth at a farmer's market full of fresh flowers and juicy fruit.

Five Favorite HaldeCraft HandDyed Semi-solid Yarn Colorways

Lorena August 11, 2017 YarnLeave a comment

While I love to make multi-colored yarns that invoke a particular thing, like Sock Monkey, or songs, like Golden Years and Blue Jean…. my heart is really always with the solids and semi-solids. This might have something to do with my personal obsession of knitting complicated cabled designs, in which …

Five adorable buttons!

Lorena October 16, 2015 Shop UpdatesLeave a comment

That these buttons haven’t been in stock has been entirely on my shoulders; I took them out of stock to take them to a show, and then completely forgot to check them back in again (coming back from a show is a little chaotic) and then just sort of… forgot …

Long-time followers from the Hanks Yarn and Fiber days will know this story; when we first started our hand-dyed line at the yarn store, one of our naming schemes was for our favorite adult beverages (Red Appletini, Vodka & OJ…). We wanted to make a margarita-inspired colorway, so I dyed …

Five of my favorite disaster movies

Lorena July 10, 2015 Movies3 Comments

I love a good disaster movie, but what makes it “good” can be subjective. For instance, it doesn’t necessarily have to be realistic in order for me to love it – I mean, come on, The Poseidon Adventure is going to be on this list, and that’s about as far-fetched …

Five popular floral scented soaps

Flowers smell wonderful, just like nature intended. But let’s be honest, that fragrance doesn’t always translate well to bath products. Who else has picked up a favorite floral fragrance in a soap, shampoo, or lotion, only to have it smell chemical and over-sweet? If you’re as particular about floral fragrances …
