And by that, I mean, it’s TATTOO FRIDAY, YO!
I’ve been trying to get this tattoo since… January of last year? February? And it’s one I’ve been thinking about for even longer. My regular tattoo artist books out months in advance. I had a consult in … I think it was early March….? His kid got the flu and we had to reschedule. I think the reschedule was just a couple of weeks later… definitely before I went to Ireland. He could have seen me in August but I was going to be in Scotland, so we scheduled for early September, about a week after I got back. Well, by that time I’d had a kidney infection, Septicemia, and Covid, and since this is going to be about a 6-8 hour sitting, I really didn’t think I had it in me (even though I’d sat for about three hours in Scotland, for a tattoo, with no problems). So we rescheduled again. FOR TODAY!
I’m a little nervous because I’m still getting so tired, so fast, when I do anything that needs speed or strength. I mean, getting a tattoo is really just sitting there… I’ve even had limbs fall asleep while sitting, so all I felt was a hilarious tingling! But I also know from my upper sleeve that long sessions can be brutal, stamina-wise. I’m bringing water, extra water, and snacks. I’m booked from 9:30-3:30…. it’s just a black and white piece (although I may add color at a later date) so it might not even take that long. My full color lower arm piece only took about four hours. Although, that was during Covid, and my artist then (different artist, same studio) and I were both wearing masks, not chatting, and he was churning through it. I was whimpering by the end – no breaks – but I love that tattoo and it means a lot to me (that’s my Watership Down tattoo).
What am I getting this time? This (only the version I’ll get will be drawn by Sleepy Dave, and not thrown together in Paint Shop Pro by me.
I kind of regret that I didn’t put an arrow for “Watership Down” or just “The Downs” on it, but I do have an entire forearm devoted to El-ahrairah and the Black Rabbit of Inlé, so… meh. OK. Gotta go, gotta shower and get dressed for Church. It’s like 30 degrees outside so I have to figure out layers that will allow me to clear maximum space for the tattoo while retaining warmth on the rest of me…!
Finished pictures later tonight, or tomorrow if I’m wiped out (I also have my Patreon Hangout late this afternoon for my Patrons – I hope I’m not late for it – so they’ll actually get to see it first, haha. Ever met a tattooed person who DIDN’T want to show off their fresh ink???).

Most excellent.
