Of course my house looks NOTHING like what it does in this ten-years-old picture I’m using for my post image… and I have a different car… and I think that mug might have gotten broken a couple of years ago. But… yes! I am home! And it feels like a completely different house with the new flooring. Jeff warned me when he picked me up at the airport that everything was roughly back where it was supposed to be, but things might be a few inches off from where they were, and he’s kind of right. Like, there was a pile of cords over near that one outlet when I left, and there’s a pile of cords there now, but it’s a completely different pile of cords, and the cords that were there are all over by a different outlet. It’s kind of funny, really. I mean, I can get to everything I need – Jeff was really great about making sure I’d be able to because he knew my head this week was only going to be on GLAM – so it’s not stressful. It’s more funny than anything else. Plus, it’s making me really, REALLY, want to deep clean and rearrange some things. Which I don’t have time for because GLAM is coming!
So, what happened while I was gone?
- All of the carpet and tile was torn out and removed
- Wood laminate (vinyl? I forget now what we’re calling it these days) was put down
- So every piece of furniture in the house was moved at least twice
- The tub/shower in Jeff’s bathroom was switched out for a shower unit
- My shower that I hate was switched out for a new shower and the bad drywall (from the fireplace/roof leak) was replaced
- My garden tub was replaced with a freestanding claw-footed tub
- Jeff was able to move some furniture in his room that he wasn’t using (it had been there when I had it set up as a guest room) to another room
- Which meant that he could consolidate his computer stuff into his room
- Which means that he doesn’t need Tim’s old office as his office
- Which means right now that room is a holding area for a lot of the stuff that was moved around
- Which means that as I get to it, that room is open for me to do pretty much anything with
- The cat room is now a cat room/guest bedroom (sorry, cat-allergic guests, but you probably weren’t going to want to stay here anyway)
Things I am itching to do now include…
- Paint my bathroom
- Fix the sticky tile stuff I did in my bathroom a while ago, as some came off immediately and I was waiting to paint the bathroom to fix it
- Figure out my new houseplant configuration as I lost bathroom plant room (the new bathtub is bigger than the other one, plus there’s no ledge now)
- CLEAN EVERYTHING (there is a thin layer of grody carpet dust over everything) (I’m cleaning as I’m using something but there’s soooo much to do)
- Strip and repaint the kitchen cabinets (I already bought new hardware ages ago… I wasn’t planning on being sick for, like, three months this year, and unable to do things that needed, you know, strength… stamina… the ability to breathe….)
- Rearranging some furniture
- Figuring out what to do with the boy’s old office room (it would make a perfect guest room what with the half bath right there, but the guest room furniture is already in the cat room, and all of Tim’s old bookshelves and his gargantuan desk are in there, so…)
And so much more.
- My new xTool P2S is here and I’ll have to figure where to put it in my studio so that I can feed boards through it – so, lots of space in front and behind
- I ordered two new good security cameras, so I need to get those hung
- I ordered a new wifi extender for the studio, so I could hang the security cameras in places that don’t currently have one (I set that up yesterday)
- I also ordered a third (I’m done now, I swear) birdfeeder camera (DataAngel, this is all your fault, lol!) and I need to get that set up
- I want to sort through a bunch of things that have been piling up and deep clean the house
- I need to reset the current two birdfeeder cameras and the security cameras that are still offline from when the guys hired to move all the furniture around unplugged the wifi
- I have a gazillion things to say about my travels from this year, now that they’re all over and I can compare and contrast my Ireland, Scotland, and England trips
But! Today will be pricing things and packing them for GLAM. (And a massage and chiropractic visit in G’ville in the afternoon, plus a couple of in-town errands). About half of what I’m taking with me to the show is already priced and packed, and in the big shed. Oh, and yesterday, I put together two sets of plant stands that I ordered while I was on vacation, in prep for moving some things around. They’re not where I want them yet because it was more important to get all of the houseplants back inside the house (they were out under the pergola while all the housework was going on, but it’s freezing at night so I had to get them in). I have one wedged behind the new tub, but I’m going to need to move it again after GLAM to paint that wall, so no pictures yet. Here’s where a bunch of the rest of them are for the time being.
The dogs keep walking by the plants and stopping to sniff them, haha. And holy COW but do I love those new floors!
OK; there’s more I want to say but that’s all I’m giving myself time for this morning. Things to do, people to see, and all that.
Oh! Hey! Good morning! Welcome home!

Beautiful !! I love that there are TTD things to do ; on the list that can be done according to the time you have to give them. Easy does it ; one step at a time and all that. To quasi quote Vlog Brothers ; i’ll see you on Sunday my sister . Respects to Jeff. Deep abiding respect.
Looks fabulous – is the sound different now with the new floors?
busy busy! Hey how do you like the amazon thingy? I started to do that but built in a 14″ tv instead into the desk.
The floors look amazing! I’m so glad Jeff was able to oversee all of this for you, and that everything is at a place where you can comfortably get to it when you have time.
