Every now and then I hear him
…(or her, I shouldn’t assume)…. and once in a while I see him.
YAY! I love pileated woodpeckers. (That’s what it is, right?) They’re gigantic and remind me of Woody Woodpecker… and my Grandfather, but for unrelated reasons. We used to watch for them at the suet feeders when I was a kid.
My favorite bird, too. Really good composition, with the horizontal branches.
Sometimes I think they get a little addled.punching on a tree all day. I’ve seen them on the ground, acting loopy.
