Party all day

Too adorable!Yesterday we had two parties to go to, and I’m so glad that they were at different times of the day because I wouldn’t want to have missed either of them. Sadly I got no photos at the second party (the skirt I was wearing didn’t have any pockets and I’d dumped my purse in a back room). But here are two from the first party, which was a baby shower for Greg and Caitlin. They aren’t due until late September or early October, but they’re moving to New Mexico next week so we’re having a party now. It was a sweet gathering with a lot of love and a serious amount of fabulous food and decorations (Rhea and Lala KICKED!ASS!! on everything) and (to my relief) no party games. I know, I know; it’s not about me, it’s about Greg and Caitlin – but still. I yam who I yam. Caitlin is at that point in the pregnancy where she’s glowing every second, and even though the little baby girl hasn’t even been born yet you can see she already has daddy Greg wrapped around her finger.

Almost too cute to eat. Almost. The second party was for our friends Cheryl and Ester, who went to Boston to get married a couple of weeks ago (hey, Jag and Antony! They had their wedding dinner at The Elephant Walk!) and were having the celebration for their Florida friends, neighbors, and loved ones. It was a beautiful party, the way they look at each other even touches my black and bitter heart, and Jackie and Garry of Cafe Colette knocked the food out of the park. Probably the funniest part of the evening, though, was when Bruce and Erica came in — keep in mind I’ve been selling through Wild Iris for over a year now, and have met Bruce a number of times, and talk about the bookstore people a lot to Tim. So when Bruce came in and I gave him a big hug, and then he turned to Tim (who had never, to my mind, met Bruce)… well, it turns out they work in the same building at the County! They’ve known each other all this time!

Gainesville, you are so small. But you hold so much love, and so many reasons to party!
