Sometimes I sneak things into photos, or like with this one, just put them there and not mention them when I post the photo. I swear I do not make things purely based on what my friends would buy… but I do sort of use them as a focus group sometimes.
Here’s my reasoning. I know and interact with maybe… let’s say, between Facebook and Ravelry and Real Life, 500 people. Now, that’s much higher than Dunbar’s Number, but keep in mind I go to a lot of science fiction conventions and have worked retail for most of my life — so I see, interact with, and share stories with a good number of people.
So let’s say that out of those 500 people, I could think of about 50 of them right off who would like Christmas ornaments that look like little owls with knitted caps. Now, math and I don’t have much of a working relationship but would it be safe enough to extrapolate that if 10% of the people I know would like Christmas ornaments that look like little owls with knitted caps, that 10% of the population at large would like Christmas ornaments that look like little owls with knitted caps? Not that 10% of the entire population of the Earth is going to find my shop… But even if only a couple thousand people find HaldeCraft, chances are good that they might like Christmas ornaments that look like little owls with knitted caps. So it’s worth it to me, to make some. Plus, they’re hella cute and I plan on keeping one for myself.
Which is my long-winded way of saying “hey, sneak peek! Coming to HaldeCraft in October, Christmas ornaments that look like little owls with knitted caps!” Caps will be white, red, green, and Orange and Blue; owls will be white, brown, and gray. I’m leaning towards $12, maybe $15 for the O&B ones. I found the bisque a few weeks ago when sourcing new and different bisque items, and immediately ordered 12. I have another 12 on order, but I’ve discovered that this new place takes backordering to a whole new level, so hopefully I will even get them before Christmas (I still have some skull plates on order with them for Halloween that I’ve pretty much given up on being able to offer this year, sigh).
ANYWAY. Owls. Knitted caps. Cute as hell.
Man, I can get rambly when I do have time to blog, can’t I?!?
