Quinn found me the most fabulous shirt! I don’t know if you can tell on the small size of the picture, but they are knitted kittens! One cable, one argyle, and one intarsia. The little sad faces kill me!
Things are a little up in the air right now about Christmas, and Rusty. I will keep you all posted, but right now it looks like our Christmas celebration, if we want it with Rusty, might not be on the 25th this year. It’s a good thing I believe that celebrating Christmas is less an event than a feeling; celebrating Christmas, to me, is about getting together with people you love, and sharing your heart with them. That can happen any old day. (Having said that, though, I do still love me a big tall tree with lots of bulky lights and ornaments that have been passed down through the generations, and carols blasting upon waking up in the morning — but as the song says, you can’t always get what you want.) Anyway, I will know more after I talk to Unca Joe after I have a bit more coffee. PS. If our lives were a holiday movie, now would be a good time for that Deus ex Machina or holiday miracle. Bert? Do you hear me, Bert?
Yesterday I started giving out some of my Christmas presents, and every single person commented on my tags (in a good way). I found them on Pinterest while doing a key word search for free gift tags and let me tell you, there were a bunch from which to choose! I liked these the best because they looked like they could be used for many different occasions, not just Christmas, and I chose to print them out on a slightly thick, beige marbled paper in order to make them look even a little more old-fashioned. I used yarn to tie them onto the brown kraft bags I’m using as gift bags, and overall the look was just lovely and very… Walton Mountain. You can find the free download for those on Little Paper Dog (or by clicking the picture of them to the right, there).
Today is the first day of my “vacation,” and I’m using air quotes not because it’s really a staycation and I’m trying to be cute, but because it’s not really a vacation from work, I’m just taking a vacation from updating the shop and being so chatty about my wares on Facebook. I want to get some new things to list in January, and work on my custom orders, review 2011 business-wise and make a plan for 2012. Well, making a plan has been in the back of my head for a few weeks, I don’t mean that I’m suddenly going to sit down today and chart out my next year willy-nilly; but sometimes I get so caught up in working that I do less planning and more running around restocking. If I always restock I’ll never have time for something new, and if I space my restocks out a little farther, people will look forward to them more because things they want won’t always be available. I hope.
Anyway. More coffee. Starting the dyepots. Cleaning the cat boxes. Calling Unca Joe. That’s my morning. Have a good day, y’all.
