The first wave of HaldeCraft HandDyed

HaldeCraft HandDyed in Worsted Weight

I really want to thank everyone for their input on names — between what y’all said here, and talking to some of y’all in person while I was on vacation… I’ve settled on HaldeCraft HandDyed. I know, I know, and I totally don’t mind if old Hanksians call them “HaldeHanks” (I’ll think of that as their nickname). I really waffled on this, and what it boils down to is… I’m not Hanks. I’m part of Hanks, one-third of Hanks, and Hanks will *always* be a part of me. But I’m not *just Hanks* and my Etsy shop is going to be run a lot differently than Hanks was. I felt that making the name HaldeHanks might be confusing to some folks who don’t know me as well, don’t shop with me very often, were maybe only the store once or twice… I don’t want to give them the impression that I’m carrying on in the same way — because it’s not the same.

I am going to be carrying some of the same colorways – as you can clearly see from above, with Irish Coffee, Hogtown, and Grey Gardens. But I’m not going to be carrying all the colorways (sorry Cosmo, Hurry Up Spring, and Witch’s Heart). Time will tell what other colorways I’ll be bringing back… or not. Having said that, should you be a former Hanks customer and need That One Extra Skein, I do still have all of my notes and will be happy to dye up anything you need. And I’m going to be doing a lot more one-shot colorways. At least every four months I’ll be doing a limited edition color, and I do mean LIMITED. Maybe ten skeins, tops. So if you see me advertise that and you want one, you need to jump on it because once it’s gone, it’s gone. I’ll be releasing the first colorway, Dogwood, at the July Craft Market (Saturday, July 30th, 1-5 PM). Any of them that don’t sell there will go up online. I’m also going to be starting a new sock club, which I’ll tell you more about in a day or two.

This post was primarily intended just to let you know what’s going on, what I’ve been doing this last week (the droplets on my shoes tell me that the dying has been quite colorful!). If the humidity wasn’t such a bear this week, I’d have a lot more yarn to upload. As it is, I started off today with three colorways in Tepper (a worsted weight superwash merino): Irish Coffee, Hogtown, and Grey Gardens.

Which brings me to another thing — after Hanks Yarn and Fiber (40% off! Not much left!) is completely shut down, I’ll be changing the name of the yarns in the Ravelry database. I’ll not only be changing the name of the line from Perhaps Today is a Good Day to Dye to HaldeCraft HandDyed, but I’ll be changing the names of the bases and bringing in two new bases –
Tepper is a Superwash Merino worsted weight yarn.
Andre is a Superwash Merino/Nylon sock yarn.
Octavia is a Superwash BFL/Silk sock yarn.

Should I bring in any of the other bases we used at Hanks, I will change those names as I bring them in.

I think that’s everything I wanted to say, but please shout out if you have any questions! I know I’ve probably forgotten to say something somewhat important.
