QOTW - 2008/07/14

And the Question of the Week is…

Assuming that in any of these that you would be working in a position that you’d love to be doing (be it booking, roadie, performer, whatever); would you rather travel around the country with a sports team, a rock band, or a circus?

No question; I would be with the circus-- where of course I'd love to be the photographer! Bring on the sideshow, baby!

Rock band.

Sports teams are cool, but I have a friend-of-a-friend high up in the Red Sox org, and it's not been a good experience for the family.

Circuses - I have issues with animal circuses, and I can't stand the ones with tiny people getting all bendy.

Totally about the music.

As much as I love the circus (Lorena, you know you'd probably have to photograph the clowns as well, right?!), I'd have to go with rawk band.

Posted by Sharon on July 14, 2008 at 08:39 AM | #
I think it would have to be a band, but only if the band is not partying hard 8 nights a week hmmm I am such a freaking homebody grin

If it were Cirque du Soleil, I'd totally be there. Otherwise, definitely the rock band. Party on!!

Oh dear. Well I have been a stage manager and I can tell you that one should never work with children or live animals. You never know what they will do or when they will poop.

Rock band dudes are fun but the hours are burtal.

Sports guys? Well could be fun as long as I don't have to wash the socks and ah stuff.

Posted by sandyknits on July 14, 2008 at 08:58 AM | #
Rock band, if only for the story potential. And I'd be the photographer, too!

Posted by Finn on July 14, 2008 at 09:36 AM | #
Sports team.

Not that I give a damn about sports...but I could be their pilot.

Sure, a rock star might be more interesting...but piloting rock stars has some sort of curse attached to it.

I have no idea what job I'd do, but I'd have to take the circus. Can't stand most jocks (sometimes even my jock of a son and dad), and I hate most music. So, circus it is!

Posted by Qtpies7 on July 14, 2008 at 10:17 AM | #
I think for most interesting destinations it would be worth while touring with a rock band but with any of the groups the schedule would be brutal. I'd rather just save up my money and travel on my own terms!

Posted by jacquieblackman on July 14, 2008 at 10:40 AM | #
I would rather travel with a Rock Band. The circus would be ok but I don't like clowns. Sports teams would not be rather boring I think.

Posted by Shannon on July 14, 2008 at 10:45 AM | #
I think would fit in well with a rock band. Cuz I'm already such a rock star y'all wink

"one should never work with children or live animals. You never know what they will do or when they will poop." <-- this made me spit cantalope on my keyboard!!

Posted by smilcher on July 14, 2008 at 10:58 AM | #
Having traveled with a rock band, I can say I would certainly do it again. It's fun if you can take the hours.
Elephant poop = gross and circus people always seem so weird and shady to me.
Sports teams = macho junior delinquents [jaded old lady here - Get Off My Lawn!]

Have to be circus. Lots of weirdos to write about. (The rock band and sports weirdos are too mundane.)

I would want to travel with a sports team. I pick either the Red Sox or Patriots.

If I could I would just love the job of being Jacoby Ellsbury's sex kitten. smile hah

Sports are terminally boring. Clowns are scary. That leaves Rock Band, which I would gladly join as a performer, not a roadie. I'd be a backup singer and play cowbell.

Posted by damejain on July 14, 2008 at 04:35 PM | #
No way to the circus after reading the book "Water for Elephants"...Rock Band all the way for me.. Rock SStarrr.....

Posted by cathy on July 14, 2008 at 09:23 PM | #
I've been a roadie, and subsequently I'd have to opt for "stay home". But analyzing the variables - I think sports guys have it made - better accomodations, less actual work time, and huge paychecks. So, I'd go with pro sports athlete, if it were the option.

I know too many circus folk already, and rock star is very taxing until you've been at it at least 20 years as a success.
