The Question of the Week! Which I almost misspelled to read the Question of the Eeek!
You know the drill… If you don’t answer in my comment section (which is preferred) at least please leave me a link to where you’ve posted in your own blog. (And a big warm hello to all the new people!) Thanks!
What is one activity you thoroughly enjoy doing that a large percentage of people would probably consider, at the least, trite and boring ?

Perhaps some people might find sitting in my new porch swing early in the morning, enjoying a cup of coffee, writing, and listening to the birds begin singing about the day to come trite and/or boring... but I wouldn't want to hang out with those people.
I build things for the sake of buiding them, not fo any specific utility they might have. So, I guess creation for sport - I don't really know if anyone but me is like this, so I have to assume it's just me.
Oh, and I like formatting text, so much it can be considered a sickness.
I really like sewing costumes. Not everyday clothes, but costumes. Starting with a flat piece of cloth and turning it into something fun to wear. It's time-consuming & can be tedious, but I love it!
OMG, that covers pretty much all of my hobbies, lol! I do cross stitch, which is often viewed as a pasttime for little old ladies, I dabble in cartoon dolls *blush* (if you don't know what that is, Josie's doll site at http://www.over-the-moon.org/dollz has some of her very lovely dolls), I paint plaster ornaments and such for Christmas, I like to read and watch documentaries. Yep, everything I do is either for preteens or old ladies
I hate getting started on laundry, but I end up having fun when I hang it outside. I arrange heaviest things in the sunniest spot, line things up by color (black-black-black-black-purple-grey-dark blue-blue-lt blue-beige-white) and I usually have a cat or 2 with me. I usually want to relax in the yard afterward, but it's full of flapping clothes!
Oh, where do I start? I've previously outed myself as a nerd, so here goes: I love to balance my checkbook. When the bank statement comes, I drop everything else and grab my calculator and month's worth of receipts. I get downright giddy with excitement when I can't get it to balance on the first try.
I love to plan things. I love to plan trips, parties, the weekend, my day, etc. I love to make "to do" lists, plan locations and schedule days, prepare menus...
I also enjoy karaoke, even by myself.
I like wasing my son's face after he eats. Sarah's a little old for that now...she does a decent job herself, and she's pretty neat anyway.
But Nathan eats with gusto.
I'm happy when I can get to him first and make it all clean.
I like to do laundry and make grocery lists. I also love to grocery shop and cook
hi! first time here.
i love alphabetizing books and cd's. with the books, i also categorize them by subject and genre.
however, the Star Wars Expanded Universe has a ton of books and comics that are all tied to each other. these are on a shelf of their own and in chronological order, based on the events in the Old Republic/Galactic Empire/New Republic SW universe.
i think i have the makings of a very fine librarian. hee hee.
JenX, I also do my own ceramics, which others might consider tedious.
Karen and
Jeanne, my husband is the same way. Nothing makes him happier than to have a stack of reciepts to enter into the computer! He lives for Microsoft Money. I live to give him piles of reciepts.
Barb, careful about that librarian comment! If you don't already have a career, my mom will try to recruit you! She's all about finding new blood for the library!
I love to organize things - anything. clothes in my closet, dvds, books, financial information - just about everything. I also enjoy cross-stiching and helping my mom make clothes for me. We have an agreement - I cut out the patterns, and she does the sewing. I would like to one day learn how to do the sewing myself, but I want to wait until I can have my own sewing room.
Believe it or not, I actually enjoy ironing. I don't do much of it anymore as I don't have to wear clothes that require it. I used to iron my Dad's clothes, military uniforms, my suits, you name it...
Cleaning anything.
Yes, barb, we are a breed that thrives on tedium like cataloging. In fact, even tho I'm not a cataloger, my answer is that most of my work as a library administrator overseeing book and movie and music ordering and monitoring our budget would be something most people would find terribly tedious and boring. As do I. But it pays extremely well, and I have lots of freedom, so it's worth enduring the boring aspects. Of course most librarians are doing direct public service and that, my dears, is the exact opposite of boring. In fact, it can be downright adventurous and even dangerous.
actually, as a career change, i was planning to apply to library school last year, but i got sick. i'm thinking of re-applying again this year, but i'll only be able to go if i can get a scholarship. as it is, my student loans are outrageous.
administration?

i'm not sure i'd like that part, alicesenior.
I have all the crafty hobbies, etc. that are probably trite and boring to many. But my secret passion is a deep, dark secret and - I feel sure - trite and boring to virtually everyone.
I love, love, love to clean. The smell of Clorox Clean-up, Tilex, and Lysol turns me into a madwoman. I can't help myself. The end result is just so...satisfying.
But don't tell...I get major mileage out of bitching endlessly about 'hating housework'.
*lol*
