I guess I shouldn’t have thrown that half-a-knuck out of the window in Kentucky…
... because I wound up only having enough yarn to finish two complete pairs. Whoops. HAHAHAH! I’m a dork.
Yarn: Opal Dreamcatcher
Needles: Size 2 DPNs
Pattern: Knucks
Notes: I have enough left over that I can use it as trim on a third pair of knucks for the third cousin.

Robbie’s Knucks
Yarn: Plymouth Indiecita Alpaca
Needles: Size 4 DPN’s
Pattern: Knucks by Pamela Grossman
Notes: I keep forgetting to post about these! I finished them on the drive back from West Virginia (of course I couldn’t finish them on the way there; they were for Robbie and being able to give them to him in person would make far too much sense). I call them the Superman Knucks. Because for one, Robbie is a super guy; for another, if I could embroider at all, that’s what I would have put on the fingers.

Kelly’s Knucks
Yarn: Opal Rainforest “Ladybug”
Pattern: Knucks from Knitty
Needles: Size 2 DPNs
Notes: Since I was using a yarn thinner than called for, I dropped down two sizes of needles and used the instructions for the largest knucks; they seem to fit her just perfectly (I was worried that even with making the larger size they might be too small what with dropping two needle sizes. They seemed a little tight on me but appear to fit her just fine). I also didn’t do the embroidery on the fingers because we all know what a disaster that would be. Lastly, to both loosen up the bind-off edge and create something pretty and girly for Kelly, I did my new favorite bind-off, the picot edge! (Closeup in the extended.)

Sister Knucks
Whoot!
A matching pair of Knucks for Cathy and myself. The best part? I have enough left over to also make a pair for Jenny and a pair for Amy! Rock!
(Here’s a great picture of the three of them, if you want to behold the beauty of my sisters-in-law.)
These Knucks were made with Mountain Colors Bearfoot yarn in the colorway of “Yellowstone” on size 4 DPN’s. I went down to a size 2 on the second pair to make the ribbing, because I felt it was too loose on size 4’s. Approximate time to make them? About three or four hours per knuck (I wasn’t really watching the clock) over a period of about ten days.

Knucks for Needle Rolls
Sister-in-law Cathy said that she’d trade me some Knucks for a DPN needle roll-- rock! And I’d been thinking that I wanted a pair for myself, so… this weekend I started on a matching pair. Here’s how far I got on the drive down to Disney (four thumbs, four pinkies, and two ring fingers):

Armwarmers
Here are the armwarmers I finished about a week ago, but keep forgetting to take a picture of. The yarn is Sirdar Donegal Tweed which I picked up in Scotland. The pattern is one I designed myself, with decreases and increases, based on the gauge of the yarn.
I have to type up the pattern (I’m sure nobody wants to see my hand-written scribbles on graph paper) and then I’ll add it to this post… if not later today, then later this week.
Updated: now with pattern

The finished gauntlets
Gauntlets… wristwarmers… fingerless gloves… whatever! They’re done! Have been for a couple of days, but… do you know how hard it is to take a picture with both your hands in the frame?! I had to wait until Tim was available to photograph me.

Tossing in the gauntlet
Okay; I know I have two birthday presents that I should be working on*, but I look at them and feel just soooo uninspired (I don’t know why; they’re both great projects...) I think it’s just that they’re taking a long time and I want to work on some quick things…
So, I started these gauntlet/fingerless gloves/wristwarmers-- whatever you want to call them. I’m using two different patterns to make them (I’m so tricksy!) because I didn’t 100% like any of the patterns I found. I’ll post the pattern when I’m done with them. The yarn is Paton’s Katrina, which I had found on sale somewhere and got to make socks. Then I thought it was most likely too thick for socks (it is) but it’s nice and stretchy and warm so I thought I’d make these instead (the dpn’s will be coming out when I’m done, duh...)
I’m pretty sure who is going to get these for Christmas… but the thing is, it takes so much less yarn than I thought, that I’ll probably be able to make three or four pairs out of the two balls of Katrina that I have.
*Kelly? Barbara? Uhm… your birthday presents might be late…
