01:02:03 04/05/06
In less than 24 hours (and this does depend on how you write the date), it will be 01:02:03 04/05/06.
It’s the little, geeky, things that make me grin.

Shh, it’s a secret!
I’ve signed up and been accepted for Secret Pal 8, and I’m as giddy as a little girl! Dang, but it doesn’t start until the middle of May… I can’t wait to spoil and be spoiled!
I’ve also jumped on the One Skein Secret Pal Exchange, which also looks like fun (and less pricey, for those of us on limited budgets). But I couldn’t resist SP8, because I’ve seen people talk about the first ones and it just looks like too much fun to pass up.

QOTW - 2006/04/03
Sorry for the hiatus; we were traveling last week (unexpectedly) and I just didn’t feel like doing this. But today the Question of the Week is back, and…
(You know the drill; please answer here or leave a link to where you’ve answered it in your own blog. Thanks!)

Describe yourself with a random shuffle
Totally ganked from Marie!
So. The meme. It asks questions, you put your media player on “shuffle” and let it answer the questions. No cheating. Sure, a lot of it won’t make sense, but some of them are funny anyway.
How does the world see me?
Please Don’t Bury Me by John Prine. Heh. “Please don’t bury me down in the cold cold ground/no I’d rather have them cut me up and pass me all around.” Great—the world sees me as cake!

I-cord belt
Lately I’ve been needing a belt… and needing to feel like I’ve actually finished a knitting project (pay no attention to the eight gabillion projects under “on the needles”...).
So last night I cast on and knitted a very simple I-cord belt, and added some fringe at both ends.
Also starring Reme’s paw. Because good fucking luck trying to take a photograph in this house that doesn’t have a cat in it.

Photos up
The photos from running up to South Bend/Chicago for the funeral are up here. Mostly family, and the church… but of course there’s a bunch of the house, too.

Chocolate Cherry socks, in progress
How funky is this yarn? This is the Claudia Handpainted yarn that I bought here, and that Betharoopie and I are discussing the unwinding perils of here. They really are from the same dye lot, even though the brown is browner in one, and the pink… pinker.
I hope I like these when I’m done. Otherwise, I’ll be asking if anybody out there likes brown and pink…

Do you get dental with that?
Submit the word you see below
I had disabled captchas because they were giving fits to the people at work; however, I’ve had massive comment spam problems since then. So I’m enabling them again. Sorry… Blame comment spam!
Home again, home again
We got home around 9:30 last night. The kitties are glad to see us, and I go to pick up the dog in just a few minutes.
I could still use some more sleep!

Hey, I finished a project while we’re up here in South Bend—Bill’s somewhat late birthday present!

The Best Day Ever (Part Three): How was that concert, anyway?
So. Finally. The Pogues. Here is a flickr set - not mine - and it has some photos from the show that we went to. And I don’t think I’ve mentioned this, but they were filming inside and area making a DVD which will consist of all four NYC shows. RAWK!
The Pogues themselves were amazing. Brilliant. The Best Ever. The venue, not so much.
We got there about 5:45 for the 6:00 door opening. The tickets were general admission, and we had no idea what it was going to be like as far as seating versus standing would be… so we wanted to get there early. There weren’t too many people in line by the time we got there, and Carol and Eric’s friends Scott and Laura showed up just after we did. We all stood in line, chatted… waited. Waited. Waited some more. Finally around the 6:15/6:30 mark they opened the doors. Oddly, they said that the opening act had already started. Why open doors after the opening act…? Whatever.
They were searching bags (fine; whatever) and I had previously looked online to verify that they had some sort of coat check room so that I could store my purchases from tooling around the city all day. Good thing I was willing to part with my crap, because the first thing the door dude did when searching my purse was grab my Nikon and yell out, “professional camera!”
“Do you have a pass for this? No? Then you can’t come in.”

Out of sight but not out of mind
I feel like… that with travelling last week and this week, that I’m horribly out of touch. I’m going through my links now, trying to catch up on a little blog reading—so if you see hits from South Bend, that’s me! Anyway… silent bunch, aren’t you? Although I really haven’t given you much to chat about this week, I guess. Ah, so your lack of commenting is all my fault?!
Tell me what’s going on with y’all this week!

Leaving, on a jet plane… again
We’re flying up to Indiana first thing tomorrow morning, to be with Tim’s family.
I asked Cathy if it makes me a horrible person that I’m so glad to see all of them at the same time, even if it’s for such a sad reason. She replied that that’s how it seems to happen. That we’ll have a good cry and then a good party.
And we’ll be staying at the house, which I thought I’d never see again (again, mixed emotions). They still haven’t sold it. Anyone want to buy a spectacular house?
(Note to self: remember to pack pj’s!)
I have a gabillion things to do, so ... don’t know when I’m going to get to that Pogues concert post. Sorry for tormenting you.
Edited to add:
Daisy is the best. How many friends will come to your house to get your dog and puppy-sit them for six days?!

Did somebody say SEX?
In the knitting community, SEX stands for “Stash Enrichment eXpedition”. Here are the pretty results from… uh… SEX in New Jersey and New York, respectively.
As you can see, I am a fan of The Purple.

I have no words
Tim’s Aunt Carolyn passed away last night. Also, yesterday, Tim’s cousin Megan - Aunt Carolyn’s youngest daughter - gave birth to a daughter of her own.
The circle of life, indeed.
