Yesterday I had planned to wrap a metric ton of soap, but it turns out I don’t need to get it wrapped until about the 22nd, so I decided to put that off until next week. I wrapped a couple of trays of soap for eventual Etsy restocks, but then I also ran a couple of errands and straightened up a bit and took it easy. Then met friends for knitting in the evening. Good times!

Today? Already firing the kiln, and then the morning will be spent winding yarn, and the afternoon working on lotion. Lotion! Whee!

And today is Friday. Anyone have any wild and crazy weekend plans?

Well, if I’m awake, I might as well fire the kiln, right? I finished glazing things yesterday, but thought I wouldn’t have time to fire the kiln today because we have a party to go to that starts at 4 in the afternoon and I didn’t want to get up at 5AM to start the kiln. JOKE’S ON ME.

Yesterday I put out some Internet fires – really, nothing makes me see a white-hot rage like injustice; doubly so when the person being crapped on is someone whom I care about and feel protective towards. So I wrote a few words, and those words gave her a voice, and now people are backing down, apologizing, and stepping up to help. Justice has been served, along with a steaming cup of SHUT THE FUCK UP and a healthy dish of EAT YOUR WORDS, BITCHES.

I also made some soap, dyed some yarn, and glazed some bisque. And listed about 15 or so items on my Etsy shop because I still had about half a dozen soaps and about that many ceramics I was sitting on, and as I’ve decided to take a little time “off” (the airquotes are there because do I ever really take time off?!) I wanted to get everything I had sitting around up and listed. Then in January I will start fresh.

I need to pour some molds. I can’t pour them because there is yarn drying above where I pour. The yarn won’t dry because it’s been rainy.

Sigh.

At least the view is pretty.

Our Thanksgiving plans were changed, as Amy said on Tuesday night that Isaac was pretty sick. We were welcome to still come down, but … neither Tim nor I wanted to risk catching it if he was still contagious on Wednesday. So I had a minor meltdown when we were discussing playing it by ear and if he was better by Friday, going down Saturday early morning and coming back late Sunday instead. But the dog’s kennel reservations were from Wednesday through Sunday morning, and I didn’t want to put the dogs in the kennel if we weren’t going, as Bridgett is old and… well, you know. I already have to lift her into the car to get her to and from the kennel, and I poke her five or six times a day to make sure she’s still breathing, and if anything… happened… and she was in the kennel and we wound up not going anywhere…? I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself. I mean, look at this old face.

On Monday, we got the kittens fixed. I guess technically they are no longer “kittens,” being both 18 months old and fixed… but they’re younger than the other two cats so until we get new kittens in about ten years, they will be “the kittens.” ANYWAY. Bridgett didn’t seem to miss them while they were gone all day, but the minute we brought them back in (stoned off their asses, the funny things) she just kept going over to the boxes to sniff at them and make sure they were OK.

Whether I’m watching her to make sure she doesn’t nom the yarn… or she’s watching me to see if I’ll go away so she can nom the yarn, I’m not sure. But still.

I’d been trying to remember to take my camera out back with me for a couple days, since she started doing this. I knew nobody would believe me – other than my friend Beth – if I said “my dog likes to pull loquats off the tree and eat them!” unless I had pictures to back it up. Beth would believe me because her dog does the same thing with cherries. Beth, do you think this is why their farts are so bad?!
