Tim’s youngest sister, Amy, is getting married next month, and I wanted to knit her something appropriately beautiful and classy. Not necessarily with the intention of her wearing it at the wedding (although if she did I would be quite touched); but with the idea that she is lovely, and deserves a gift from my heart that is almost as fabulous as she is. Thus… AmyGoose.

Yarn: my own hand-dyed yarn

Pattern: made up as I went along. And I deliberately didn’t take notes, as I wanted her to have the only one like this.

Yarn: Six skeins of sock yarn; three of Mind’s Eye, one Yarn Pirate, one HandPainted Sock Yarn, and one Sheldridge Farms Soft Touch Ultra

Pattern: Faraway, So Close by Carina Spencer

Notes: Talk about your stashbusters! This pattern originally calls for worsted weight and size 10 needles; I used sock yarn (held doubled) and size 6 needles. So I also had to modify the pattern and add repeats to get the length I wanted. The verdict? LOVE!

Notes: Absolutely love the marriage of yarn and pattern in this. Also, I’m not a shawl knitter, but I found this one incredibly easy to work on (maybe because the same woman wrote the afghan pattern that I’ve been making, and this is basically half of that…?). I would definitely make this again if a situation in which I needed to make another shawl arose.
