The Four Graveyards and a Wedding Road Trip: Marvin’s Mountaintop
This will really just be a post with pictures. On Friday morning we got up and went to see Sharon’s brother’s paintball location (Preston County Paintball) and when we got out of the car, Hank came up to me – he’d gotten there earlier – and said, “girl, you got your camera ready? I’ve got a once in a lifetime opportunity for you.” We walked through the field and found…
Just a little bit before we’d pulled up, Hank had seen a mama deer leave her baby in the field. Fawns have no scent, so if they lay down in the high grass and stay where their mama put them, they are safe from predators while mama goes off and eats. We got as close as we dared, we didn’t want to scare it, and I zoomed in with the camera. It was hard to focus on the fawn and not the grass, but here’s the best of the photos I took. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity! Yes, we have deer here on our property, but the grass is nowhere this tall… I wonder if the mamas hide the fawns in piles of leaves….!
All in all, I wish I’d had more time to explore the mountain. Monica says I’m welcome to come stay with her and Hank any time I want to visit West Virginia, and I may just take her up on that….
Stay tuned, we have more graveyards – and a wedding – still to go!
