I wish I had not read this book.
Every character I liked from the first book has either died – horribly – or has made an inexplicable life choice. This book is primarily torture porn; everyone has something horrific happen to them, or has to do something horrific. Everyone likable dies, and if they don’t die, they’re probably not very likable by the end of the book. I only kept reading it hoping it would get better.
I don’t mind characters being killed off. I don’t mind good characters doing bad things to facilitate a good ending. I really enjoy bad characters making good choices. This book had one out of three of those things – GUESS WHICH ONE.
As much as I liked Lonesome Dove, is exactly how much I did not like Streets of Laredo.
