I agree with pretty much every single thing Gawker has to say about saving movie seats. I didn’t have time to read through all of the comments, but I seem to agree with those people too. So if we all agree on these things, why do other people make the movie experience so a;dkjfa;dfja;fjd?!

Note to self: please remember that at Christmas next year, you want to make a ton of these adorable tiny gingerbread houses that perch on the edge of a mug.

This post on whether or not it was cruel to let poor kids play with an iPod makes me twitch because hello, poorly written Prime Directive Star Trek episode, anyone?

This is a couple of weeks old now (yeah, I’m always behind, WHAT’S NEW) but the infamous “Work Sets You Free” sign was stolen, and found. One of the creepiest things I’ve done – as in, it gave me the creeps – was walk under a replica of that sign at the Holocaust Museum in DC. I had to pace back and forth in front of it before I could walk underneath it, but to walk underneath it was the only way you could go forward through the museum. It still gives me shudders to think about it.

On a lighter note, a mother’s note to her hemphead child gives me the giggles.

If I had a great need for a large number of pencils, here’s something cool I could do with the rest of my dad’s ashes.

When murals attack! I can’t decide if this is really cool, or if it would get really old really fast.

No; not the movie. Although I named it that because I knit the majority of it while at the movie. Did I mention 3D movies give me migraines? Yeah. Just found that out, at this movie.

Gather ye currants

Gather ye currants

Yarn: Blue Sky Alpaca sport weight in “Currant”

Pattern: Gathered Pullover by Hana Jason

Notes: for a mostly stockinette project, this took a lot longer than I originally thought. But then, I did also start and finish three other smaller projects while working on this one…! If you’re on Ravelry you can read my notes; suffice to say that I used a yarn that did not get anywhere near the right gauge but thanks to my old frienemy MATH, it all worked out in the end. I absolutely love this pullover. LOVE! IT!

And the Question of the Week is… what, if any, religion are you? Have you ever changed to a different religion?

My answer is after the cut.

Friday photo: Are we walking now?

I know, I know; it’s Sunday. I’m running behind. AS USUAL.

Are we walking now? Now? How 'bout now? NOW?

David Mallett

22 Jan

Wednesday night Aunt Gay and Uncle Joe invited us to meet them out in Melrose for a house concert by the amazing David Mallett. Imagine if Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson had a love child, who sang with Gordon Lightfoot’s accent. Yeah, I was hooked!

Even if you think you’ve never heard of him, many of my friends have probably heard covers of his songs, including this one -
