And the Question of the Week is… what movie could you see again and again and again and again?

My answer is after the cut…

I have quite a number I could rewatch; in no particular order…

The Poseidon Adventure, because I love implausable disaster films.

Dante’s Peak, for the same reason.

Rozencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, for the sheer intelligence of it.

Serenity, both out of love for the series and because it doesn’t matter how many times I see it, the last 20 minutes are the most tense minutes in my personal film history.

The Four Seasons, because Alan Alda and Carol Burnett in this movie make probably my favorite on-screen couple ever.

The Changeling (a film from the late 70’s with George C. Scott), because it is still the best written, most frightening horror movie I’ve ever seen.

Harold and Maude, because if you want to sing out, sing out.

  1. isn’t it funny that Cat is used in a TV commercial now; after having been denied permission to enter the country? oh well

LA story cuz it has Steve Martins best 30 seconds of going down the stairs ever.

    Harold and Maude

    Serenity

Rob Roy; cuz Mary McGreggor is a bad ass chick.

Youth without Youth; which i just watched; quirky time travel metaphysical agnst like Space Odyssey love story like Banjamin Button and The Fountain; only 10X10 better and mayby nobody but me has seen it …oh and..tim roth; how can you be that sexy?

  2. “Over and over” is a hard one. Lots I would like to see again; maybe even twice, for complex ones.

Maybe THE AFRICAN QUEEN. Maybe UNFORGIVEN. SERENITY would be high on my list, too.

    Unca Joe

  3. Being There
    Bladerunner
    Heathers
    Memento
    Fallen
    Hedwig
Once Upon a Time in Mexico (strictly for the Johnny Depp lines)
And others that have already been mentioned.

  4. Had just been saying I had to pick up a copy of Hedwig….
    Repo! The Genetic Opera
Army of Darkness, Evil Dead 1&2
Wrath of KHAN!! The last one being sort of a Rocky Horror Picture Show-type experience, at least at my house.

  5. Hmm, maybe Joe is MY uncle. Unforgiven is right up there for me and Serenity, too. Have seen the former 3 times, the latter too many to reveal. Also Tombstone, and the 2000 mini-series Dune, the one with William Hurt in it. Love that so much that I dig it out if I’m home sick and it soothes me in the background.

  6. The Great Escape has always been one of my favorites and I have watched it many times. There aren’t really too many others I’d watch again and again. Maybe any movie with Fred Astaire dancing. Or a Muppet Movie. Maybe West Side Story (the original one.) Or South Pacific.

  7. Oooh – I love The Four Seasons too.

If I like a movie once, I’ll typically watch it multiple times. But the bestest-of-the-best for me are:

    Love, Actually (big surprise there)
Beautiful Girls – possibly my all time favorite
    Grosse Pointe Blank
    V for Vendetta
    Sixteen Candles
    The Breakfast Club

  8. Shawshank Rebellion
Long Hot Summer (my first introduction to Paul Newman – with the bonus of Joanne Woodward)
Alice is right about West Side Story
Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid
But for dancing along with, try anything with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland or Singing in the Rain (just THE scene – the rest of the movie was awful), and so many more.

And Bill can NEVER channel surf past American President!

  9. Well, the movie I did see OVER & OVER was a CLint Eastwood flick called “Unforgiven”. I saw it maybe 12-14 times. See, one of my many odd jobs over the years was tallying movie viewers at theaters (it paid vary little, you just counted people who walked into a movie, and then waited for the next one to start. Most movies then were yawners, but I liked Unforgiven.
